This is my favorite handheld GPS. They're small, durable, reasonably priced, and are generally accurate within 3-5 meters. I have used these for prospecting, soil sampling, and even spotting drill collars for exploration holes.

ZOLEO's don't have GPS functionality so you won't be able to record any data points using this device. That said, ZOLEO's are a must if you are doing remote fieldwork and you need two-way communication. The small brick-like device is very durable and they hold a charge for multiple days. You can pre-set a check-in message and send texts via the ZOLEO app. The pricing is also very reasonable, with the ability to stop and start your subscription as needed. Once your plan is active you have access to unlimited check-ins making your field crew feel safe and connected at all times.

The Garmin InReach Explorer+ is slightly larger than the GPSMAP 64x but has a built in SOS function making it a perfect candidate for remote field programs. You can also send and receive text messages through the handheld unit itself or you can sync it to your phone using the Earthmate app. InReach is also popular among contractors, as you can sync datapoints to the units via the Garmin Explore Website. You can also view and download the tracks and waypoints collected out in the field through the Explore Website.
